Before joining CEA, Virginia practiced employment law in California for over 25 years, as Senior Counsel at Roger Josephs O’Donnell, PC and an associate attorney at SNR Dentons in San Francisco, providing counsel to employers of all sizes and across a variety of industries. In addition to extensive advice and counseling, her practice included the defense of employers in single plaintiff and class action matters in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. She uses her decades of experience to provide practical assistance to California employers.
Virginia is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California School of Law San Francisco (Hastings) and also served on active duty in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Each year, an average of nearly 2 million American workers report having been a victim of violence at work, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the number of annual workplace homicides at about 400. California now requires employers to have an “effective” program to prevent workplace violence in place by July 1, 2024; to include "Active Shooter Training" and to renew this training annually for all staff.
